The MAX803/NCP803 is a cost−effective system supervisor circuit designed to monitor VCC in digital systems and provide a reset signal to the host processor when necessary. No external components are required.
The reset output is driven active within 10 μsec of VCC falling through the reset voltage threshold. Reset is maintained active for a timeout period which is trimmed by the factory after VCC rises above the reset threshold. The MAX803/NCP803 has an open drain active−low RESET output. Both devices are available in SOT−23 and SC−70 packages.
The MAX803/NCP803 is optimized to reject fast transient glitches on the VCC line. Low supply current of 0.5 μA (VCC = 3.2 V) make these devices suitable for battery powered applications.

The microprocessor is the central unit of a computer system that performs arithmetic and logic operations, which generally include adding, subtracting, transferring numbers from one area to another, and comparing two numbers. It's often known simply as a processor, a central processing unit, or as a logic chip.
Though some IT administrators use CPU and microprocessor interchangeably, the reality is that most CPUs are microprocessors but not every microprocessor is a CPU. In the early days of IT, CPUs were a system's main workhorse as they handled a variety of computer commands that were often complex and time consuming.
A reset IC monitor is supply voltage and resets or turns off another device like a microprocessor if the supply voltage is low. These devices usually have a programmable output delay to prevent the system from returning from reset before the supply voltage is stable.
